Mikey McCarthy, a passionate advocate for the arts and a dedicated member of the Rodman for Kids Young Professionals Board, has a story that speaks volumes about the transformative power of the Theatre for Kids program. As a former participant, Mikey’s life was profoundly impacted by the opportunities provided through this initiative—opportunities that ultimately shaped his future.
Mikey first encountered Rodman for Kids during his high school years when he was a recipient of theater tickets from our Theatre for Kids program. The experience of seeing a live, professional theatre performance left a lasting impression on him, igniting a passion that would steer his academic and professional pursuits. Inspired by these performances, Mikey chose to pursue a degree in theatre at Suffolk University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Today, he is a professional Stage & Production Manager, a career that allows him to live out his passion daily.
Rodman for Kids played a pivotal role in Mikey’s journey, and he is committed to giving back to the organization that helped shape the person he is today. His involvement with the Young Professionals Board is one way he continues to contribute, using his experience and enthusiasm to support the next generation of young people who may find their own passions through the arts.
Reflecting on his journey, Mikey shared, “I could never have imagined the life-changing impact of attending a theatre performance in high school, and I owe much of my success to Rodman for Kids.”
