“Thanks to Rodman for Kids and the access to other organizations in the Charity Partner Program, I know I and my team at The Soul Project will be part of this little girl’s community for years to come, rooting her on and reminding her that she is innately worthy and wildly capable.” – Kristie Dean, Founder & Executive Director of The Soul Project
Rodman for Kids believes in the power of collaboration, providing space and programs for collaboration, networking, professional development, and best practices to youth-focused charities of all sizes – from passion projects in the incubation stage to established community youth organizations to hospital pediatric units. We recently learned that two of our Charity Partners – The Soul Project and ConfiKids – collaborated to change a young girl’s life.
Rewind to last summer at The Soul Project’s Soulful Girls Summer Wellness Retreat- two enriching days of mind, body, and soul activities where girls not only learn, but flourish. Neveah, an 8-year-old girl who recently lost her mother and has no contact with her father, was desperate to attend the retreat, but was unable to afford the registration fees. That is when ConfiKids stepped in and sponsored Neveah so she could attend the retreat with no financial worries. “We believe wholeheartedly in the Soulful Girls mission and were thrilled to fund 16 girls who would not have the opportunity to attend the Retreat due to the cost,” said ConfiKids Founder and Executive Director, Rachel Calabrese. “We love to work with Rodman for Kids’ Charity Partners and actively look for opportunities. Partnering with The Soul Project was seamless and rewarding.”
Neveah THRIVED at the Retreat. “It was profound to watch her make new friends, soak up knowledge, and even find the courage to sing a karaoke solo at the end of the Retreat, but it was clear to me that she was desperate for a community to call her own,” said The Soul Project Founder and Executive Director, Kristie Dean. Neveah told Kristie that she wanted her to be her new mom. “In that heartbreaking yet beautiful moment, I was reminded of the profound impact we (The Soul Project) can have on Neveah, and all the other girls that come to The Soul Project. The truth is, I cannot be Neveah’s new mom, but I do get to be the next best thing – her community. A consistent and caring presence in her life.”
Across our 40+ Charity Partners, there are thousands of stories like Neveah’s. Stories of resilience, hope, and transformation. Rodman for Kids is creating a community of support and partnership that cannot be found anywhere else. “Thanks to Rodman for Kids and the access to other organizations in the Charity Partner Program, I know I and my team at The Soul Project will be part of this little girl’s community for years to come, rooting her on and reminding her that she is innately worthy and wildly capable.”
